Now the change is starting to get clear to me, but before I implement it, now I put a human element as a second step.. Ive heard it said often the only guarantee in a leaders life is that somethings going to change on a daily basis. They know the demands on leaders all too well. If you can come up with a common root to the problem, because thatll establish common language when you begin to build this intentionality around a plan. I think the thing about change is the unpredictability of how the change is going to be received, embraced, and even participated in. Heres where Im going. And in that human element, now Im going to go to people that are going to be most impacted and Im going to have meetings before the meetings. Change has always been something that I was not good at, change anyway. Okay, heres my intentional growth plan. I dont want to even hear what your words are, I want to see your behavior. I learned to put on a face that said, Oh, this is change that is necessary for the growth of the organization my dad was leading for. Or, This is whats required of me. Yeah. When you share your growth with someone, if theyre happy, do it the next week. 99% of people today are assuming, just assuming, that somehow theyll get better. So that human element is step two. You go through that and then you make up your mind, I am going to intentionally grow. Now, talk a little bit about the next steps for you. How often do you go and check it? Whats the intentionality behind sharing not only what youre learning, but sharing what youre consuming and how youre doing it with your team? Well, today were going to talk just about that. Its a huge question. I was giving our dear friend Lane Jones a hard time, who is just an amazing leader and we love working with her, but we were in Florida and she came in at one of our meetings and had, I was teasing her, it was swag, but it was all the medals from a marathon that she had run at Disney World. Remember, were trying to keep this podcast under three hours. Ive just been challenged. Its really, if youre listening to it live, some of youll listen to it. How do I unify everybody on We have a momentum problem? And you and I have talked about this before, I moved a lot growing up, so change and adapting, it just wasnt an option. Were talking about it to our team. We will continue to work hard to add value to you. But what I want you to do is I want you to take us back. We all look at ourselves and say, We want change. John talked about that at the beginning. Weve heard John talk about everything worthwhile is uphill. Yeah, I love that. John says, The only way its going to get better is well, is if we grow.. Rocky said the first thing he would say is hed look at the umpire and hed say, Are you going to get any better or is this it? Are you going to get any better? So if were going to change, we need to look at change differently. I want to close today as I always like to do. Just get frustrated with yesterdays lack of success. But for me, any change, and a lot of times even in my family life or even in very personal things to me, change, very quickly after the change is recognized, were going to have to change, theres some changes coming, very quickly, Im able to, and I think this is all discipline, Im able to adjust that and say, Okay, whats going to be the positive out of this change? And again, I dont think that thats necessarily natural to me, although I have an optimistic bent to my personality. Im responsible to teach you good leadership, Im responsible to share things that can help add value to your life, but youre the only one that can take responsibility to change yourself. I ask about four people that I really believe could help me in the area of momentum.
